MGT Partners with Trek10 at Gary Community School Corporation to launch AWS Certification Program

The MGT team has been working in Gary Community Schools for five years and desired an additional avenue to support equity and help students find meaningful careers after graduation

GARY, IND  – MGT has partnered with Trek10 to launch a technical education summer camp which provides Gary Community School Corporation juniors and seniors the chance to become Amazon Web Services (AWS) certified. Under MGT’s nonprofit arm – the Institute for Racial Injustice Solutions (IRIS) – the company engaged Trek10, an AWS Premier Partner with multiple AWS competencies and service validations offering the most densely AWS Certified team in the world. Trek10 has a special focus on education for both youth looking to skill up via the Launch Program and with an annual internship class that has grown in students year over year.

The summer camp runs from June 7th – July 27th and is a 10-week online training program designed to prepare Gary students for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification exam. Led by expert Trek10 instructors, this summer camp will help address locally a national issue: 76% of African American and 62% of Hispanics could get shut out or be under-prepared for 86% of the jobs in the US by 2045 (according to Deutsche Bank).

This initiative will include up to 40 students who will participate in the program and exam at no cost, as sponsored by MGT’s IRIS initiative and Dr. Fred Seamon Scholarships.

Eric Parish, Executive Vice President says, “We are excited to partner with Gary’s Career Center to find students that can participate in the program. By earning a cloud certification recognized and respected in the industry, we are creating a sustainable program that will help students find careers after school and help transition them into happy, productive adults.”

MGT, one of the country’s largest providers of disparity and education solutions, has worked since its inception helping school districts, colleges and universities perform better both operationally and academically. MGT’s deep commitment to “impact communities for good” is validated in selecting this summer camp program as IRIS’ first initiative. Gary is the right community for the program and was a clear partner of choice for MGT leaders.

IRIS was founded in 2021 with four goals aligned with MGT leader’s corporate conscience:

“We have the means to make an impact, therefore we have a duty to do something meaningful.”

The goals include:

Use research and data to identify areas of highest opportunity to impact racial justice in education,

Leverage a national network of independent professionals and organizations to find highly effective solutions

Develop financial and community support to underwrite and implement selected projects and

Plan and manage the project solution in conjunction with the identified partners and measure/sustain results
