(Gary, IND) – The Family and Community Engagement (F.A.C.E.) division of the Gary Community School Corporation (GCSC) has bolstered its commitment to supporting the health and well-being of students and their families through an exciting new health initiative. By partnering with several local organizations, including Northshore Health, CareSource, Purdue Extension, Geminus and the Aliveness Project, the district is delivering vital resources to families.
Last week, the F.A.C.E. liaisons hosted an event in partnership with Northshore Health to provide vision tests, health insurance enrollment assistance and childcare resources. Attendees were able to take advantage of these offerings in one convenient location (Gary Area Career Center), further underscoring the district’s dedication to fostering healthier, happier families.
“We believe that healthy families build strong communities,” said Tennille Foster-Milsap, Districtwide F.A.C.E. Liaison. “Through these partnerships, we are able to bring critical resources directly to our families, ensuring that both students and their families have access to the tools they need to thrive.”
Recognizing the importance of consistent community support, the F.A.C.E. liaisons are located in every school building and are committed to organizing monthly events that tackle a wide range of needs for students and families.
The next event, GCSC Community Day, is scheduled for Tuesday February 18th from 12 PM to 2 PM at West Side Leadership Academy, 900 Gerry St. in the rear parking lot. This exciting event, offered in collaboration with the Northwest Indiana Food Bank, will not only provide food resources for families but also include opportunities to enroll scholars and distribute free books to attendees.
Families are encouraged to attend these events as part of a larger effort to create meaningful and sustained support networks.
