As you may have heard, there is high alert for the Coronavirus across the country. In an abundance of caution for our students and staff, I have decided to close the school district until April 3rd (3 weeks) at this time. I will evaluate the situation as it evolves to see if the time will be extended. If I do extend the time off, I will communicate this through email, robo calls, our website, Facebook, etc. Please continue to monitor all of these sites while at home.
We have set up at least 7 feeding sites that encompasses every district within the city to allow for our students to receive meals while we are off. We will be posting the feeding sites on all of our social media outlets.
Additionally, the nurses will be contacting parents to assist them in coming to the schools to pick up medication that they may need for their children while their home.
As you know, we have packets of work ready to go home with students today. These are being delivered to all schools as we speak. Please ensure that these get into the hands of all of your students today before they leave. We plan on trying to offer some Facebook Live Reading segments for students to view while they are home.
To reiterate, we will be closed as a district from Monday, March 16th through April 3rd.
Please be safe and I want to thank all of you for your help and support during this difficult time.
