Boeing Donates School Supplies to Hundreds of Gary Community School Corporation Students

(Gary, IND) – Last week, the Gary Community School Corporation received a large donation of book bags and school supplies from Boeing. The annual “Liftoff for Learning” initiative by Boeing is a nationwide program and 275 students from Williams, Beveridge and Banneker at Marquette Elementary Schools were selected as this year’s as recipients. The generous donation came directly from the employees of Boeing.

“We are thankful and excited about the supplies our students received,” said Chaitra Wade Principal of Banneker at Marquette Elementary. “Having the right tools gives them the head start that they need to be successful.”

The contribution represents part of a larger partnership between Boeing and the Gary Community School Corporation that focuses on enhancing STEM education for students grade K-5. In addition to the school supplies donated, Boeing continues to work with the Gary Schools through the aviation program housed at the Gary Area Career Center and other STEM-focused programs in the district.

“Boeing continues to be an amazing partner across the district from the donation of resources to our youth to their partnership with the Aviation program at the Gary Area Career Center,” said Director of Elementary Education Dr. Esther Goodes. “We look forward to their continued involvement and always invite companies and organizations to connect with us on behalf of children.”
